About Central Japan Travel Guide

Hi, I'm a software engineer from Gifu, Japan — right in the heart of the region this site covers. I grew up surrounded by the mountains, old towns, and hot springs of Central Japan, and I built this site because I want more international travelers to experience what makes this area so special.

Takayama's quiet morning streets, the snow-covered gassho houses of Shirakawa-go, the steam rising from Gero Onsen on a cold evening — these are places I've known my whole life. But when I looked for English-language travel guides about Central Japan, most were either too shallow or buried inside massive all-of-Japan sites. I wanted to create something better: a focused, practical guide written by someone who actually knows the region from the inside.

What this site is about

Central Japan Travel Guide covers Takayama, Shirakawa-go, Gero Onsen, and the surrounding areas of the Japanese Alps. Every article is written to help first-time visitors plan real trips — with honest transport advice, realistic time estimates, and local knowledge that guidebooks often miss.

Editorial policy

All information is fact-checked against official sources such as local tourism boards, transport operators, and facility websites. I clearly distinguish editorial content from sponsored or affiliate-linked content. Affiliate partnerships never influence recommendations.
